Wheels4Hope > FROM DONOR TO RECIPIENT.

The Fishers of Raleigh donated a very nice Honda Accord. Why did they donate? "We wanted to give back to our community."

The next photos show the car's journey through Wheels4Hope.

Wheels4Hope > Premium Imports is one of our major outside repair shops. The shop did a thorough evaluation of the Fishers' car with a view to providing good long-term reliability for the eventual recipient. Among the repairs were new belts, front axles, a water pump, and a valve cover gasket. Here, Cathy Hofmann, co-owner of Premium Imports, consults with technician Nick Cheek.

Wheels4Hope > The Fishers' Honda Finds A Home. At our official placement ceremony, Jennifer, second from the right (real name withheld), received the first car that she has owned in some time.

Wheels4Hope > Good Things Happen. Jennifer had been through a very, very difficult time in her life. She worked hard on a series of personal problems and is now reunited with her children and living on her own. Shortly after getting her car, she received an important promotion at work. Like a good job and stable housing, a reliable car is an important piece for someone who wants to return to the common life.

Wheels4Hope > Gerry Carlson (center) and his wife, Barbara, have donated two cars to Wheels4Hope, including the very first car received by our oganization. In a very tangible way, the Carlsons and our other donors are helping to make the Triangle area a better place to live. Here Gerry talks about his car with volunteers Steve Callender (left) and John Eisenbies.

Wheels4Hope > "Betty Farber (real name withheld) used to pay people to drive her back to Raleigh when she finished her job in a Garner restaurant around midnight. Public Transportation isn't available in the small hours of the night. But two weeks ago, she bought a 1991 Ford Thunderbird [from Wheels4Hope]. Suddenly her options are wide open. 'It has helped me just to be able to get back home . . . But hopefully it will help me find some other employment - - maybe in the Research Triangle Park .' Wheels4Hope > The actual placement of a car is a very special event, with lots of smiles and good wishes all around. Typically the placement ceremony includes the recipient, volunteers who have worked on the car, representatives of the agency sponsoring the recipient, and friends and family.
